How To Get There

The Rosebery is only a fifteen to twenty-minute walk from the campus or a quick bus ride of five to ten minutes. The nearest bus station is Haymarket, which is just across the road from the main campus of Newcastle University and less than a two minute walk away.

You can also get the metro from Jesmond station to Haymarket; Jesmond metro is approximately a ten-minute walk away from the hotel, while the metro journey takes less than five minutes.

What Is It?

Of the two well-known universities in the city centre, Newcastle is the original institution and has been open to students – independent from Durham University – since 1963. The university offers a wide variety of courses for students of higher education and is also very popular with international students. As a public research university, Newcastle has one of the largest EU research portfolios in the UK.

A prestigious university institution, Newcastle is famed for its social experience in the heart of the city, as well as the high rates of academic success. It holds several open days throughout the year to prospective students and parents in Newcastle and even has overseas campuses in both Malaysia and Singapore.

Newcastle University also has its own coats of arms, which originated from the days when it was still a part of Durham University before it became independent.

What's Nearby?

There is a multitude of cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants, local supermarkets and shops all within a short walking distance of Newcastle University and the student halls of residence. Eldon Square shopping centre and Northumberland Street are both less than five minutes away, while you will find a variety of independent and other retailers on the nearby streets, including both a Tesco Metro and a Sainsbury’s Local.

Northumbria University is also very close, with a selection of student bars, cafes, libraries and research facilities.
