You will find Newcastle’s O2 Academy in the city centre on Westgate Road. It can be easily reached by walking down Clayton Street from Eldon Square shopping centre and following the road until you come to the intersection on that leads onto Westgate Road. The venue is close to Central Station, where you fill find signposts to point you in the right direction.

The O2 Academy also puts on regular nights out, with specific nights arranged to take place in the venue on a Friday and Saturday night. A night out at the O2 Academy will include a lot of dancing and drink offers that will see you through to the end of the night. Don’t forget to request your favourite song from the DJ.
Whilst it hasn’t always been known as the O2 Academy Newcastle, the venue has always been a music and entertainment hub, undergoing several names changes and hosting the fab four twice. The venue is tied to musical history, as it was during their stay in Newcastle to perform here for a second time that the Beatles wrote She Loves You.
How to Get There:
The quickest way to get to the O2 Academy Newcastle is to take the metro from Jesmond to Central Station and take the short walk to the venue, which will take around ten minutes – five minutes on the metro and five minutes on foot.
It is equally easy to get the bus or metro to Haymarket station and walk down to the O2 Academy from there which will take less than five minutes on the metro and then ten minutes to walk.
Fancy grabbing something to eat before the gig or continuing your night with a drink after the show? There are plenty of bars and restaurants close to Newcastle’s O2 Academy to suit a variety of tastes, including Persian cuisine from Reza, Marco Pierre White’s steakhouse, Kaspa’s Desserts and the luxe cocktail bar Bonbar, which is part of the Assembly Rooms. Within a short walk is The Gate and Bigg Market, which each feature a large selection of eateries, bars and clubs so you can continue your night before returning to The Rosebery.
