There may only be 4 months left in 2014, but The Rosebery Hotel in Newcastle has compiled a blog post to tell you what exactly is going on in Newcastle between now and the New Year. Have a read, and then make your booking to stay with us here in Jesmond.

Travelling with children?

If you’re travelling with your kids, there are plenty of things to do, in and around Newcastle. This bank holiday Monday is the last day of ‘A Soldiers Life’ at Housesteads Roman Fort, where you can meet a Roman Legionary and learn what it was like to be in the Roman Army. If you miss the event at Housesteads, head to Chesters Roman Fort, for ‘Children’s Roman Soldier Week’ starting 25th October. Hadrian’s Wall is a great walk too, so once you’ve seen the old fort, you could take a stroll.

Where to go with kids while staying in Newcastle

If history isn’t what you’re after, ending this month, is the Continental Circus Berlin, which can be found on Newcastle’s Town Moor until 31st August; witness circus acts, music and see performers from all around the world. In October, you could go and see Disney on Ice at the Metro Radio Arena and enjoy their celebration of 100 years of magic! In December, Whitley Bay Playhouse will be presenting Beauty and the Beast in Pantomime; the perfect thing to see in the lead up to Christmas.
Not far from The Rosebery Hotel, is Seven Stories, the national centre for children’s books, at the moment, they have an Angelina Ballerina event!

Do you love sports?

If sport is something that floats your boat, then here are a few events that might take your fancy. Coming up at the end of August, is the NE1 Zapcat Grand Prix; head down the Newcastle Quayside on 30th and 31st August and witness lightweight powerboats racing down the Tyne. Of course, we can’t forget that the Great North Run is taking place on Sunday, September 7th and this year we will find out who will be the Great North Run’s 1 millionth runner! October will see more running, as the Neon Run hits the North East; combining a 5km night-time run with a dance party, this is definitely one not to miss!

Over the next few months, St James’ Park will play host to multiple Rugby World Cup games. Also, Newcastle Falcons will be playing lots of rugby matches, locally, at Kingston Park.

If sport isn’t your thing and you don’t have children, don’t fret, we’re not finished there!

Seeing your favourite musician or comedian?

The Metro Radio Arena always has something going on, with many musicians and comedians getting up on stage to entertain the North East. Ant and Dec are on their Takeaway Tour for 3 nights in September and in November, Lee Evans will be doing 3 nights of his Monsters UK Tour and John Bishop, 2 nights of his Supersonic tour. In October, Paolo Nutini and Ed Sheeran will be taking to the stage. In November, Kylie will be playing 1 night of her Kiss Me Once Tour, Brian Adams will be performing for his Reckless 30th Anniversary Tour and Lady Gaga is hosting artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball!
For those of you who like a bit of dance music, this year, the Metro Arena will be hosting Hau5 The Festival (an outdoor festival) in their courtyard on 20th and 21st of September.

The Body Worlds exhibition at the Life Science Centre ends on 2nd November; see Dr Gunther von Hagens scientifically brilliant creations, using willing donors’ bodies that have been preserved through a process called plastination.
